No Entry to Chichibugahama Beach (Extended)
No Entry to Chichibugahama Beach
May 8, 2020
As we near the end of the initially planned closure of Chichibugahama Beach (5/10/2020), the extension of the countrywide state of emergency has been extended until the end of May. Taking this into consideration, it has been decided the the beach’s closure should also be extended.
Although the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kagawa has not increased since the 21st of last month, in order to make sure this continues to be the case the beach area as well as any facilities in the area will be closed until May 31, 2020.
In light of the significant number of visitors anticipated from both within and without Kagawa Prefecture, the area around Chichibugahama Beach was closed to all visitors for Golden Week.
We understand that closing the beach is likely to create inconvenience for those who were planning to visit, however we believe that these steps are necessary, as the beach welcomed over 460,000 visitors last year from at home and abroad. This decision was made in the interest of putting public health first.
Thank you for your cooperation.
