Road Closure to the main shrine of Takayajinja Shrine (Sep. 28–Dec. 25, 2026)
The road leading to the Skyview Torii Gate (the Main Shrine of Takayajinja Shrine) will be completely closed to vehicles due to rockfall prevention work during the following period. 【Closure Period】 September 28 (Mon.), 8:30 a.m. – December 25 (Fri.), 2026
During this period, vehicles will not be able to access the Main Shrine. The shuttle bus service, normally available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, will also be suspended. The walking trail from the Lower Shrine to the Main Shrine will remain open. For more information, please visit the Kan-onji City official website.
The shuttle bus service will be suspended on Sunday, September 27, 2026, due to the Japan University Triathlon Championships in Kan-onji.
Visitors can access the Main Shrine of Takayajinja Shrine either by private vehicle or on foot from the Lower Shrine.
General Traffic & Shuttle Bus Information
The road leading to the Main Shrine of Takayajinja Shrine is closed to private vehicles on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and during peak holiday periods when heavy traffic is expected.
* Bicycles and motorcycles are also not permitted. A shuttle bus operates from Ariake Ground (Kotohiki Park) to the Main Shrine.

The summit of Mt. Inazumi (404 meters) is home to the main shrine of Takayajinja Shrine as well as the "Skyview Torii Gate," which has a spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea and Kan-onji City.
The Shrine is divided into two sections: the lower shrine, located in the mountain's foothills, and the main shrine, located on the summit.
