Hyakusai Syoten

A Shop Filled with Local Favorites, Where Stories of the Past and Hopes for the Future Are Written.

Located directly across from Chichibugahama Beach, this shop has the word “bookstore” in its name but doesn't actually sell books. Instead, it brings together products from businesses that have been loved by the local community for a century, items with more than a hundred years of local history, and products worth preserving for the next hundred years.

The selection ranges from traditional Kagawa crafts to food and everyday goods.

Beside each product is a book telling its story. The thoughts of its makers and the messages of those who pick it up come together to fill the pages of a single book.

Visit the shop to discover not only the appeal of its products but also the region's history and the lives of the people who call it home.

• An hourglass filled with sand from Chichibugahama Beach, made by a local construction company founded in 1909, and salt from Chichibugahama Beach handmade by a local café.
• Customers are invited to write messages to the makers of the products and place their notes in a message box.
