Iya Valley Kazurabashi Vine Bridge

History comes alive! A suspension bridge made entirely of vines in a secluded valley

The Iya Kazurabashi Vine Bridge, located within Iyayama-mura in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, is known as one of the three remaining vine suspension bridge in Japan. Weighing approximately 5.5 tons (4.9 tonnes), the bridge is rewoven from kiwi vines (Actinidia arguta) every three years. While the area around the bridge has been cleared to allow access by cars and buses, in the past it was highly secluded, requiring difficult travel through mountains and along cliffs to reach.
The bridge is 45 meters long, 2 meters wide, and suspended 14 meters above the water's surface. Designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan

Beatuty Through the Four Seasons
The bridge is surrounded by natural scenery and crosses over the Iya River. It is surrounded by wisteria blossoms in Spring, fresh greenery in Summer, autumnal foliage in Fall, and stunning snowfalls in Winter. The unique vistas of each season tempt visitors back with new scenery each time.
