Yakitori Kukai Takase (Kukai Ciao)

A 150 year-old house, transformed into a stylish eatery.

The stylish restaurant Kukai Takase has breathed new life into a 150-year-old traditional house. Since the winter of 2022, it's also been the site of an Italian restaurant, Kukai Ciao. At night, it splits into two restaurants, and guests can also enjoy an izakaya that specializes in yakitori and kamameshi. Those partaking of the Italian fares can choose from three distinct pastas, and the chef recommends the optional "mini dolce" to accompany them. Their yakitori is prepared in-house and cooked over binchozumi, a high-grade oak charcoal that burns longer and at a lower temperature than typical charcoal. Another popular dish is Katsuo no Warayaki, direct from Kochi Prefecture. The spacious interior has a high ceiling, allowing guests a view to the thatched roof and beams above. The classic-modern take on Japanese architecture creates a refined, relaxing atmosphere balanced by the ambient noise of the open kitchen.

Presently , ramen is available at Shoyu Ramen Shoyu Gyoza Kukai Kan-onji.
