Sanuki Udon Kobaya
A bowl crafted with 20 years of experience—loved by the local community
Opened in 2024 near Chichibugahama, this udon shop is run by an owner originally from outside Kagawa, who was astonished by the depth of flavor found in Western Sanuki udon. After many years managing a major udon chain, he set out to recreate that unforgettable taste in his own shop.
The highlight here is the high-hydration noodles, which contain more water than usual—giving them an exceptionally smooth, springy, and chewy texture. The broth is made with iriko (dried sardines) from Ibuki Island, along with domestically sourced wheat and kelp.
Popular side dishes include chikuwa tempura from a long-established Kamaboko shop in Kan-onji, as well as freshly fried, juicy chicken thigh tempura.
For unbeatable value, try the weekday-only Udon Teishoku, which includes udon, three kinds of freshly fried tempura, and seasoned rice—a must-try set meal.
