Tossaka Manju

Just like the daimyo used to eat. A simple, classic favorite.

Initially opened during the Edo period, this manju shop has been quietly continuing to make manju the old-fashioned way for over 150 years. The secret is their homemade amazake, which is incorporated into their dough and wrapped around lightly-sweetened red bean paste before being steamed for 30 minutes. This gives the finished manju a unique deliciousness and soft texture unlike any other.

  • Uncomplicated, enduring flavors
  • The packaging, made of super thin wood, is also unchanged.
