Sohonzan Zentsuji Temple Shukubou
Stay at Sohonzan Zentsuji Temple. Escape the everyday with a unique shukubou experience.
Shukubou refers to lodging at a Buddhist temple or Shinto shrine. Depending on the facility, guests may be able to experience Buddhist practices, enjoy shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine), or even relax in an onsen bath. These unique stays have also become popular with travelers looking for an experience away from everyday life.
The Shukubou at Sohonzan Zentsuji Temple welcomes both pilgrims and other travelers as a regular accommodation. It is located in Iroha Kaikan on the temple grounds. Guests can also request special prayers or memorial prayers to be offered during the morning service (optional).
A stay at Sohonzan Zentsuji Temple, the birthplace of Kobo Daishi (Kukai), offers a chance to experience Japanese history and culture while enjoying something a little different from an ordinary trip.
Guest rooms are mainly Japanese-style, with some Western-style rooms also available. There are 50 Japanese-style rooms, with accommodation for up to approximately 250 guests, including two wheelchair-accessible rooms.
At the large communal bath, Daishi no Satoyu Onsen, guests can stretch out in the spacious bath and relax after a day of travel.
